Fall

Join the Herd

After students move in WT has many ways for students to engage on campus and with the organizations around campus! Buffs for Christ is involved in many different ways! You can find us on move-in day at the organization fair where we typically hand out ice pops and have several giveaways! Then after the organization fair, we will head back to our building on campus “The Chair” (304 24th Street), and have a game night where we start to get to know the new students and reconnect with students coming back from summer break!

Buff Branding Sunday

Always the Sunday before classes begin, Buff Branding Sunday is an excellent time for students to get plugged in with Buffs for Christ (BFC) and the University Chruch of Christ (UCC)! We begin at 9:00 am with Breakfast & Bible Class at “The Chair” (304 24th Street), then we head to UCC for worship which begins at 10:25. After worship there is a FREE lunch catered by Rudy’s BBQ, then after evening Worship at UCC, we head back to BFC for a free home-cooked meal! Buff Branding Sunday is an excellent opportunity to connect and get 3 FREE meals before classes begin!

Welcome Week

WT does everything they can to get new students to plug in on-campus and Buffs for Christ is no exception our weekly events kick off starting the first day of classes with Early Christian Worship at 8 pm. Then Tuesday we have a movie night at 8 p.m., Wednesday we have Bible Class at 7 p.m., Thursday we have split Guys/Girls Devotionals, Friday is a Fun Night, and Saturday we typically tailgate before the home football game! That first week of classes can be stressful but we don’t want you to miss out so we offer more events that first week of classes in hopes of catching as many students as possible!

Retreat – Camp Blue Haven

What retreats are supposed to feel like! Just when a student thinks they will not be able to survive the workload of the fall semester, we pack up and head to the beautiful mountains of Las Vegas, New Mexico. Students fellowship and focus their minds on God for an entire weekend. Each year we have talented and challenging guest speakers that connect students to our annual theme, incredible singing, hikes, and free time; this retreat is a highlight every year.

Football games

It’s West Texas. We do not need to tell you that football is kind of a big deal! We typically tailgate before home football games then head to the game together as a group to cheer on fellow students both on the field and in the WT marching band! On, on, Buffalos!

Christmas caroling & party

Christmas Caroling is a way of blessing our widows and elderly from the University Church of Christ while blessing each other. Our group will visit more than a dozen homes to sing Christmas Carols and conclude the night with the blessing of great food and a gift exchange.
